Guide · Better Tab Switcher 1.0.0
The switcher's own window
On most pages, the switcher appears over the page you are on. On some pages, the browser doesn't let it in. There, the switcher opens in a small window of its own, in the middle of your browser window.
Where it opens in its own window
- The browser's own pages, like Settings, the extensions page or the New Tab page. Their addresses start with
chrome://in Chrome andedge://in Microsoft Edge. - Your browser's extension store: the Chrome Web Store, or Microsoft Edge Add-ons.
- Pages of other extensions, and files opened from your computer.
- Pages that keep scripts out of their frames, and pages that don't respond.
Use it
The switcher works the same way in its own window: the same keys, the same views, the same search. The window is sized to fit the switcher. It closes when you choose a tab or press Esc. If you switch to another window or app, it closes too, and you stay there.
These pages never get a preview. In the grid, their tiles show the site's icon instead.
Turn it off
This is controlled by the setting Open the switcher in a window on Chrome's pages (in Microsoft Edge, Open the switcher in a window on Microsoft Edge's pages), which is on by default.
When you turn it off, nothing happens when you press the shortcut or click the toolbar icon on these pages. On every other page, the switcher appears over the page as usual.
